A rare and distinctive edition of Camera Obscura by Nicolaas Beets, first edition 1839
Camera Obscura, written by Nicolaas Beets under the pseudonym Hildebrand, appeared in the autumn of 1839. This collection of stories, with sketches from Dutch daily life, was written in 1837 when Beets studied theology in Leiden. The work grew into one of the best-known classics of Dutch literature.
Publisher: Erven F. Bohn in Haarlem.
With on page 251, the last page, the printed dedication to Abraham Scholl van Egmond (see fig. 17)
Cover in moderate condition but not loose and some water damage on page 1 (see figs. 13,14)
Otherwise in neat condition and the binding is OK
