Max Horte (1865-?) - Fischerboote im Hafen

Oil painting on canvas circa 1900 by the painter Max Horte, born in 1865 in Berlin and living until 1924. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in his hometown. He received a scholarship from the Menzel Foundation to improve his skills at the Académie Julian in Paris. The painting is signed and dated lower right (M Horte 14.08.09). Horte was a painter, engraver, and watercolorist with motifs from Germany, France, and Italy. The size of the painting with frame is 57 cm x 76.5 cm. Without frame it measures 42 cm x 62.5 cm. The decorative wooden frame from the period is included as a gift.
