Description from the seller
New Series – Contemporary Photomosaics
David Law
Photographer-Artist – Creator of Contemporary Images
Multidisciplinary photographer, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and the perception of the image in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series dedicated to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle game of reflections and superimpositions. This inquiry into gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Subsequently drawn to the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Contemporary Photomosaics
Since 2022, David Law has been developing a new body of works based on artistic photomosaic and contemporary digital composition. Each creation is built from a multitude of microvisual fragments generated with current graphic tools, then carefully selected, structured and recomposed by the artist. From a distance, the image appears immediately legible, strong and assertive. Up close, it reveals a dense architecture made up of thousands of subtly interwoven elements. This work rests on a precise artistic direction, a methodical and rigorous construction, a balanced tension between fragmentation and unity, and a constant demand for visual quality and decorative impact. Through this series, David Law questions the making of the contemporary image and how a multitude of fragments can give rise to a coherent and singular work.
Edition & Manufacturing
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. Prints are produced on aluminum with an integrated rear mounting. Printing on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with a soft UV- and humidity-resistant lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, great long-term stability of colors, and a modern, contemporary rendering.
Biography
Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the official photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. In parallel with his visual work, he develops a voice as an author and musician, including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a comic book, a photobook and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
