Description from the seller
Elegant Louis-Philippe style grand dresser from the Italian area, made in the mid-1800s. The piece is entirely covered in premium mahogany veneer, arranged symmetrically to create a natural, amber-like flame pattern of great aesthetic value.
Main features:
Structure: Presents the classic first lower drawer with a beaded slide edge (gola curve), followed by three generous lower drawers.
Stiles: Sides enriched with fluted column pilasters terminating in original onion-foot feet.
Psyche (Looking-glass): The piece is topped with an original coordinating psyche, featuring a tilt mirror and scroll-work columns, with a small storage drawer at the base.
Details: Carved mouthpieces and hanging bronze handles (consistent with the style).
Condition:
The cabinet is in good original structural condition. It shows the usual signs of time and use (small losses of veneer and superficial scratches visible in photos) that attest to its authenticity. The patina is original. The interiors of the drawers are intact.
Technical Details:
Era: circa 1850
Material: Solid poplar/pine with mahogany veneer
Origin: Italy
Dimensions: 130 cm wide x 65 cm deep x 100 cm height to the top surface + 70 cm height for the psyche mirror
Shipping and Pickup:
Pickup: Available for in-person collection in Como.
Shipping: Given its bulk and delicacy (presence of the mirror), shipping must be arranged with a specialized antique furniture courier. Costs are at the buyer’s expense.
