Description from the seller
The Quiet Hour
Description of the work
Original work in a contemporary naïf style that represents a everyday scene in a Mediterranean village, where maritime architecture, the beach, and neighborhood life coexist harmoniously. The composition captures that moment of the day when the afternoon stretches and activity continues unhurried, highlighting the beauty of the everyday and the serenity of habitual encounters.
The scene gathers multiple simultaneous actions that build a shared narrative: a young person walks their dog along the shore while two children approach with curiosity; a girl plays with a small child beside the promenade; two youths converse with the musician who livenes the afternoon; on the back terraces, neighbors and visitors prolong the sobremesa among soft conversations and the clinking of cups. A middle-aged woman walks slowly observing how new generations repeat the same walking rituals she has seen for years. Closer to the houses, yet still on the beach, two friends chat calmly while a few steps away a couple enters a porticoed passage seeking the freshness and privacy heralding the end of the day. In the pink house at the end, a girl waits with her stroller full of toys, asking if she can stretch the afternoon a little longer before returning home, accompanied by two women and a small boy who have extended the stroll a few more minutes.
The overall impression is one of balance, closeness and quiet vitality, where each character occupies their place within a shared space that brings together different generations and ways of enjoying time. The work celebrates the normality of any old walk, turning the everyday into the true event, without the need for extraordinary elements.
The piece is part of contemporary figurative art, with a personal naïf language that highlights coexistence, simple life and the human richness that inhabits the shared spaces of the Mediterranean.
