Jose Manuel Mayo Peña, Impacto Cromático, oil on canvas in gestural contemporary abstraction, 50 by 59 cm, original edition, 2025, hand-signed, in excellent condition, Spain.
Description from the seller
JOSE MANUEL MAYO PEÑA
- Born in Las Tunas, Las Tunas Province, Cuba, (1976)
- Graduated in 1997 in the drawing and painting specialty at the Escuela Profesional de Artes Plásticas in Las Tunas.
In Impacto Cromático, José Manuel Mayo Peña unfolds a high-energy abstract composition in oil on canvas. The work is characterized by a dynamic structure where intense diagonals and contrasted color masses generate tension, movement, and depth.
The dominant red bursts onto the surface with expressive force, countered by vibrant yellows, deep blues, and areas of white that balance the composition. Broad brushstrokes, material drag, and overlays reveal a physical and direct painting process, where the gesture becomes protagonist.
The spatial organization suggests expansion and rupture, evoking the language of abstract expressionism and contemporary gestural abstraction, yet maintaining a distinctive identity marked by the balance between chaotic control and compositional construction.
The piece has a strong presence that makes it an ideal work for collectors of modern abstract art, contemporary spaces, and interior design projects seeking a protagonist piece with character. Its chromatic intensity and diagonal structure contribute dynamism and sophistication.
