This exceptional and large-scale vase represents a prime example of Massier’s celebrated Golfe-Juan production at the height of his artistic maturity. The elegant elongated neck rises from a harmoniously balanced ovoid body, entirely covered in a finely controlled geometric décor of circular motifs, enhanced by a superb iridescent metallic luster glaze. The surface displays remarkable chromatic variations, shifting between copper, gold, turquoise and green tones depending on the light, demonstrating the technical mastery for which Massier achieved international acclaim.
By 1901, Massier had perfected his innovative reinterpretation of Hispano-Moresque luster techniques, elevating ceramic production to a fully modern decorative art form aligned with the Art Nouveau aesthetic. Works bearing the complete Golfe-Juan signature and precise dating from this period are among the most sought-after creations from his oeuvre.
