All automatic watches must be wound initially by crown as the wrist motion alone is not sufficient to maintain the required power reserve.

RULE FOR ALL WATCHES WITH A DATE
To avoid potential damage to the mechanism, please do not set the date with the crown when the time is between 21:00 and 03:00. It is advisable to set the date when the time is between 03:05 and 20:55. Some models have a screw-down crown; for settings you may gently unscrew the crown counterclockwise. Remember to securely screw the crown back after adjusting.
