Description from the seller
My pieces are conceived to be companions rather than possessions. I endow my objects with organic, animated characteristics, hoping that people will grow attached to them as to pets. Vincent Decat is a Paris-based artist-designer, a graduate of the Design Academy Eindhoven, who explores the boundaries between design and sculpture. He regards the durability of an object not only through its materials, but above all through the emotional connection it evokes. By making his objects almost alive, they become companions that one must take care of, keep, and cherish.
Aorta is a chair that awakens the senses. The veins that traverse and envelop it invite touch and interaction. This network of vessels, which runs through the entire structure and emerges from it, makes the piece come alive and invites contact with the object. It is composed of a metal frame covered with clay and plaster.
The piece is functional and equipped with a high seat. It intentionally exhibits cracks, a testament to its artisanal crafting.
