Description from the seller
This oil painting on canvas was created by Adriaan Marinus Geijp (also spelled Geyp) (Middelburg, November 22, 1855 – The Hague, November 9, 1926), a Dutch painter. The work shows a man with a wheelbarrow in an autumnal Dutch landscape.
Geijp began his career in Middelburg as a house painter and decorative painter. Later he developed into a fine artist and took drawing classes at the Academy of Drawing in Middelburg. Around 1880 he moved with his wife Margaretha Jenneke Krauz and their two children to The Hague, where he had a studio on Hekkelaan and where he lived for the rest of his life.
He inherited his drawing talent from his father, Johan Frederik Geijp, but otherwise he was largely self-taught. Adriaan, also known as André, painted mainly landscapes, forest scenes, coastlines and ice scenes. The influence of The Hague School is clearly recognizable in his work. Geijp was a very productive artist and sold a large number of his paintings to a Rotterdam art dealer.
Dimensions: 56 x 76 cm
Dimensions with frame: 68 x 88 cm
Viewing is, of course, possible. In addition, we have our own in-house frame shop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary. We also work with restorers from the professional association: Restauratoren Nederland. If you would like to make use of this, please let us know.
