Double Janus Head (1831-1868), Southern Netherlands (Flanders), circa 1859.

gilded silver ciborium on a fluted round foot and baluster stem, adorned with cartouches, foliate work and grapevines, ears of wheat and volutes. Vase-shaped knop with flutes. On the cup, cartouches including a flaming heart and the symbols of faith, hope and love amidst ears of wheat and grapevines. The lid crown with a fluted dome and Greek cross. Marked on the base. Donated in 1859 to a cleric affiliated with a Carolus-hospitium (hospice).
