Sculptural Italian table lamp made in Murano, dating from circa the 1970s.

The lamp is made of mouth-blown glass with a subtle color gradient from satiny white to clear transparent. The upper side is characterized by amber-colored, organically shaped glass applications that appear to flow over the edge like solidified droplets — a technique strongly aligned with the expressive Murano production from the seventies.

When the lamp is lit, it creates a warm, layered light effect where the amber glass catches and enhances the light in gold and honey tones. When switched off, the object presents itself as a sculptural glass form with depth and material tension.

The lamp sits on a round brass base that visually makes the whole appear to float and subtly enhances the warm character of the glass.

In the 1970s Murano manufacturers intensively experimented with plastic glass applications and color gradient techniques. Producers such as AV Mazzega brought expressive light objects to the market in which glass was used not only functionally but also sculpturally.

This lamp clearly fits within that design movement.
