Arch-lathe for Parigine, dating to 1880–1920, made of metal, bronze and wood.
Description from the seller
Rare specimen of a Bow Lathe, an antique tool (circa 1850/1870) used for engraving Beonzo or other metals. It operates with a bow fashioned from cord or wire, not present in the original period box, with the maker's mark on a small plate attached to the tool. A rare object in excellent condition; I believe no pieces are missing, and the bow is not part of the set of items contained in the box. The box itself is in fair to decent condition, considering it is wood and about 150 years old, but complete; only the clasp hooks are defective and need restoration (I will ship it closed with rubber bands). The tips should be compatible with this lathe, as I acquired them from the same owner, but I cannot guarantee; nevertheless they are another incredible rarity, paired with an even more beautiful and curious cylindrical wooden container. The tips weigh 125 g, and they should be bronze, plus the container is wooden. 656 g is the combined weight of the lathe and box. The small cylinder that holds the tips is 7.5 cm tall and 3.5 cm in diameter. The box dimensions are in the description. Absolute rarity.
