Description from the seller
Hello.
I am Pierre ANTONIN (SP-Meteorites), leader of the Saint-Aubin meteorite research project in France since 2018, more information on my website.
Saint Aubin is an iron meteorite, classified Iron IIIAB with a magnificent octahedral structure and many inclusions of troilite and schreibersite.
I specialize in the treatment/restoration of iron meteorites, and since 2019 I have been working on the stabilization process through subcritical fluids (dechlorination under high pressure/high temperature) which allows achieving a level of stability never reached until now. This meteorite has benefited from this treatment. My clients are private collectors, professionals and museums such as the Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle in Paris.
All my iron meteorites are guaranteed stabilized, an authenticity certificate is provided and I prioritize the quality of work and after-sales service.
BEGINNER TIPS:. Iron meteorites are prone to degradation by oxidation. Before a purchase, carefully check the surface condition that shows the Widmanstätten structure. Be vigilant if there are traces of oxides, as this can evolve unfavorably, prefer surfaces without oxidation and without thick varnish, don’t hesitate to zoom in on the photos. On complete meteorites, favor an appearance without powdery oxidations or exudations, signs of instability; surfaces should be dry and healthy.
Thank you for your trust. Pierre.
