Skjøde Skjern Denmark – Mid-Century teak owl – model 53 – dated 1–66 (January 1966) – rotatable or placeable head – Danish Modern
Description:
Elegant Scandinavian design object from the heyday of Danish modernism: a solid teak wood owl with a placeable rotating head — a feature that is documented among teak owls designed and possibly produced by Skjøde Skjern in Denmark in the 1950s–1960s.
The piece is finished in warm teak and features a contrasting wooden beak and inlaid eyes, with a clear mid-century design language that is both sculptural and functional. The underside bears a stamped model number “53” and the date “1–66” (January 1966), indicating production date and batch within the global Skjøde Skjern lines — comparable to other teak owls documented on collector and design platforms.
