Extendable table model 612 by Silvio Coppola for Bernini
Masterpiece of Italian design, the model 612 table represents the pinnacle of Silvio Coppola's formal research for the historic Bernini company. This piece stands out for its structure in fine walnut wood and for the ingenious opening/extension mechanism that transforms it from a compact square to a generous rectangular work surface.
Design and history:
The model 612 is famous for its central cross base, although the genius of the project lies in the extension system.
Silvio Coppola, an architect and prominent postwar designer, managed to combine in this table the solidity of Bernini's traditional cabinetmaking with a modern aesthetic, making it a centerpiece for any classy interior.
Lot conditions:
The auction lot is presented after careful conservation restoration in excellent used condition.
Structure and top: the structure is solid and intact and the walnut surfaces have been treated with professional products that, while preserving the original patina, brighten the grain and enhance its appearance.
Functionality: the extension mechanism of the leaves is perfectly functioning.
