They incorporate a wide range of images: scenes from his own honeymoon, including sexual acts; enlarged photographs of genitalia and flowers; bondage scenes of trussed up women hanging from the ceiling; Tokyo street scenes and more.

"Nobuyoshi Araki was born in Tokyo in 1940. He lives and works in Tokyo where he has spent much of his life: In fact his entire work could be seen as a homage to this city. From 1983 to 1985, when Tokyo's sex industry was nearing its climax (pun intended), Arakie experienced and portrayed the city's adult entertainment spots, photographing in particular the red-light area of Kabuki-cho in Shinjuku. His vast photographic production, published as photo series in periodicals or photographic monographs, reached an extremely wide public. His work, just as the works by Takashi Murakami, provides a revealing picture of contemporary japanese society. This volume presents a series of color photographs all hand selected by Nobuyoshi Araki and most of them formerly unpublished."
