Description from the seller
Longrow 18 Year Old (Bottled 2016 - Batch 16/176)
ABV: 46%
Cask Type: 60% Ex-Rum & 40% Refill Sherry
An exceptional 2016 release of Longrow 18 Year Old, specifically identified by bottle code 16/176. This batch represents a fascinating departure from the distillery's traditional all-sherry profile, featuring a unique vatting of 60% ex-rum casks and 40% refill sherry casks. The result is a masterful Campbeltown single malt that marries Longrow’s signature heavy peat and industrial 'funk' with a surprising tropical sweetness. Bottled on April 25, 2016, at 46% ABV, it remains non-chill filtered and naturally colored.
Nose: Immediately oily and coastal with a distinct 'dunnage' warehouse atmosphere. The rum casks introduce exotic notes of grilled pineapple, coconut, and flambéed bananas, cutting through dense layers of earthy peat smoke and salty sea spray.
Palate: Rich, viscous, and full-bodied. A complex interplay of sweet and savory: honeyed cereal and tropical fruit bonanza (lychee and lime) meet medicinal peat, old leather, and a hint of smoked kippers.
Finish: Long, powerful, and evolving. The sweetness of the rum subsides into a drying, ashy smokiness with lingering notes of cracked black pepper and a sharp maritime tang.
