AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Very decorative mime set (nesting tables). The mime set consists of three nesting tables that fit into each other. They are made of rattan and have a wooden top veneered with oak. The largest table is 59.5 cm x 39.5 cm and 39.5 cm high, the middle table is 48.5 cm x 39.5 cm and 34 cm high, and the smallest table is 38 cm x 37.5 cm and 27 cm high. Together, the three tables weigh 12 kg.

The tables are made of rattan. Rattan and rotan are very similar. They both come from the rattan palm. Rotan is harvested higher up in the palm, while rattan grows closer to the ground. Both materials are used in furniture. Rattan is a bit more flexible than rotan and is therefore used more often in weaving and bending work. It is likely that both rattan and rotan were used in these pieces of furniture.

Rattan and rotan are sometimes confused with bamboo. It is definitely not bamboo. Bamboo is a very strong type of grass, from which furniture is also made. However, bamboo is hollow, unlike rattan and rotan, which are solid.

The mime set probably dates from the 1970s or the 1980s. They still look good. Of course there are signs of use, but that is to be expected for tables that are around 40 to 50 years old. Here and there the varnish has worn away with use. Furthermore, the tables are still 100% stable.

They are beautiful and atmospheric tables that transport you back to the 1970s. Not only can you use them as plant stands, but they can also be used as pedestals or as a small slim side table (see photo). They fit into any interior; very beautiful!

The tables are carefully packed and shipped insured.
