Beautiful and intriguing statuette from northern Togo. It is a moving work with a heightened sensibility. Its gaze is gentle. Its eyes, half-covered, are formed by cowrie shells. It seems drawn into the invisible world of spirits. The pose is soft, in a waiting stance. A thick layer of offerings covers it, a mix of blood, earth and plant fibers. It is an old object that has lived. Cracks and damage. Sold as is, see photos. A beautiful piece for an antique, authentic collection. Circa 1950.

Belle et intrigante statuette du nord du Togo. C'est une œuvre touchante à la sensibilité exacerbé. Son regard est doux. Ses yeux à moitié recouverts sont formés par des cauris. Elle semble happé par le monde invisible des esprits. La pose est douce, en position d’attente. Une épaisse couche d'offrandes la recouvre, mélange de sang, de terre et de fibres végétales.
