Bowl - Silverplated - Flower bowl 1900-1920

Elegant antique English silver flower bowl, raised on a circular pedestal foot and fitted with a removable domed wire flower frog. The bowl is finely crafted and richly detailed, combining classical form with decorative and functional elements typical of high-quality Edwardian silverware. The exterior is decorated with floral repoussé work, complemented by lion-mask mounts with original suspension rings on opposing sides. The applied beaded rim and stepped foot add further refinement to the overall design, giving the piece strong visual presence. The interior retains its original removable wire flower frog, designed to support floral arrangements while allowing water circulation. When the frog is removed, the bowl can also be used as an elegant serving bowl, making it a versatile piece suitable both for decorative and table use. The bowl is engraved to the front with a presentation inscription: “To Peg & Ray - From Customer’s & Friends - Shakespeare” This engraving gives the piece strong personal and historical character, suggesting it was a commemorative or presentation gift, likely associated with a business or venue named “Shakespeare”. The underside is clearly stamped “Hand Engraved – Silver Plated – Made in England”, confirming English manufacture and traditional hand-engraving techniques. The bowl is in very good antique condition. There is some rubbing to the silver plating on the side with the floral decoration, as visible in the photographs. Otherwise, the piece shows only minor surface wear, light scratches and gentle patina consistent with age and use. The wire frog is original and fits well. No structural damage observed. Please refer to the photographs for precise condition details.
