Antique holosteric barometer from 1910–1920, in a solid wood cabinet with Art Nouveau–inspired decoration, Netherlands origin (A. Federmann, Haarlem), 49.5 × 17.5 × 5 cm, in working order.
Description from the seller
Beautiful antique holosteric barometer in a richly carved wooden case—a characterful and decorative instrument that combines science, craftsmanship, and Art Nouveau-inspired design.
This elegant wall barometer is made of solid wood with warm honey-brown tones and refined openwork ornaments. The graceful floral motif at the top and the symmetric scrolling motifs give it a distinctly decorative character, typical of the period around the early 20th century.
At the center is a classic thermometer with Fahrenheit and Celsius scales, below which sits a nicely visible barometer mechanism with weather indications in Dutch. On the dial is the name of the optician: A. Federmann – Haarlem, which gives this barometer a charming Dutch historical touch.
The combination of a precision instrument and wall decoration makes this piece especially beloved by collectors of meteorological instruments, antique measuring equipment, and atmospheric wall decor.
A stylish and authentic object that adds atmosphere directly to both classic and modern interiors.
