This original bronze sculpture of Cundi Bodhisattva from the 20th century measures 34.5 cm high, 21 cm wide, and 12 cm deep, and weighs 2100 g in good condition.
Description from the seller
This is a beautiful image of Cundi Bodhisattva (準提菩薩, Zhǔntí Púsà), also known as Cundhi or Chundi!
The characteristic iconographic elements:
The 18 arms (or sometimes 16) that fan out in a wheel-like pattern
The seated meditative posture on a lotus throne
The elaborate mandorla (aureole) with flames and decorative motifs
The serene facial expression with a crown
The lotus base with multiple tiers on a richly adorned pedestal
The bronze with a beautiful green patina
Cundi is an important bodhisattva in Vajrayana Buddhism and is especially worshipped in China, Japan (as Juntei Kannon) and Tibet.
She is regarded as an emanation of Avalokiteshvara and is known for her power to remove obstacles and provide protection.
The many arms bear various attributes such as vajras, lotus, mala beads, and other ritual objects, each with symbolic meaning.
The statue is in good used condition with signs of age. (See photos)
