Description from the seller
GOAT by fotello
In GOAT, the Italian artist fotello pays homage to Michael Jordan by transforming the sports icon into a contemporary visual monument, suspended between myth and matter. The work does not simply depict an athlete: it carves an archetype. The proud profile, the gaze cast upward, the solemn posture elevate the figure to an absolute symbol of excellence.
The white jersey of the Chicago Bulls, with the unmistakable number 23, becomes the beating heart of the composition. The fabric’s whiteness is pierced and shattered by a chromatic explosion that overturns its purity: crimson red, gold yellow, electric blue, deep violet, and vibrant pink layer into stains, splashes, and painterly fragments that seem to detonate on the surface. Color is not decoration, but energy: it evokes the dynamism of the game, the tension of the jump, the roar of the crowd.
fotello adopts a language that blends incisive realism with urban gesture. The face, shaped by stark contrasts between light and shadow, emerges from an absolute black background that amplifies the image's drama. The digital brushstrokes and scratched textures evoke street art, while vertical drips suggest movement and emotional intensity, as if the image were still in transformation.
The deep black enveloping the scene isolates the figure, turning it into a luminous icon that seems to emerge from the darkness. In this dialogue between control and chaos, between anatomical detail and chromatic abstraction, the artist builds a powerful balance: discipline and instinct, precision and visual impact.
GOAT is not merely a sports tribute, but an aesthetic statement. Fotello reinterprets the legend through the vibrant language of contemporary urban art, consecrating Michael Jordan as an eternal symbol of ambition, greatness, and visual transcendence.
fotello (Carrara, 1981) is a contemporary artist who works between painting and digital art. After pursuing studies in the artistic field, from 2001 he began a personal research that combines painting techniques and digital tools, establishing himself as a recognizable author for his style and ability to fuse tradition and innovation. His digital works, signed with the pseudonym fotello, explore the boundaries between imagination and technology, always keeping the human and creative element at the center. Parallel to this, he pursues modern painting, with particular attention to abstraction, understood as a language capable of evoking emotions and meanings not immediately decipherable. His works, both painted and digital, are part of private collections in Italy and in several European countries.
