Description from the seller
"Inner Abyss" by Federico Alibrio presents itself as a work that transcends the mere representation of the whale, encapsulating a deep symbolism within it. The whale, iconically majestic and fascinating, is often seen as a sacred entity, a symbol of ancient wisdom and infinite creativity.
The artist succeeds in evoking not only the aesthetics of this oceanic creature but also its spiritual essence. The choice of patinated terracotta gives the sculpture an organic texture, evoking the idea of a bond with the land and, simultaneously, with the oceanic abysses that the whale represents.
This duality is crucial: the whale as a symbol of the principle of creation invites viewers to reflect on the interconnectedness of all forms of life and interspecies communication. The work becomes a vehicle for introspection, inviting us to explore our relationship with nature and the importance of listening to the often-silent voices of the natural world.
The meaning of "Inner Abyss" extends beyond the physical object, serving as a portal to a deeper understanding of ourselves and our place in the life cycle. Through this sculpture, Alibrio invites us to explore the beauty and complexity of existence, stimulating an emotional and spiritual connection with art and the world around us.
The whale is depicted as swimming and designed to be hung on a wall, though this does not exclude the possibility of resting it on a surface. On the back there is a hole that allows it to be hung on the wall.
The work was made in clay and fired, subsequently patinated cold. The whale is depicted as swimming and designed to be hung on a wall, though this does not exclude the possibility of resting it on a surface. On the back there is a hole that allows it to be hung on the wall.
