Pair of decorative gilded bronze and white marble cassolette urns in Napoléon III style, dating from 1880–1920, made in France, with central white marble bodies in a gilt bronze, foliate‑carved mount and matching domed lids; dimensions 31.5 × 13.5 × 10 cm, weight 4.4 kg for the pair, in good condition with age patina.
Description from the seller
A superb pair of decorative cassolette urns in gilded bronze and white marble
These ornamental urns are of very fine workmanship. The central body in polished white marble is mounted in a rich gilded bronze frame finely chased: scroll handles decorated with acanthus leaves, mascaron appliques, a beaded frieze, and turned pedestal.
The lids are fixed to the urns (not removable), topped by a knop in the shape of a turned cone, also in gilded bronze.
Each cassolette rests on a stepped white marble plinth with four turned bronze feet. The ensemble corresponds to fireplace garniture elements, very fashionable in bourgeois interiors at the end of the 19th century.
A beautiful antique decorative object, ideal for a fireplace, console, or bookcase, bringing a classical and elegant touch to a room.
Good overall condition for its age, gilding well preserved with a lovely antique patina. Marble without cracks or visible restoration, only light signs of use and micro-scratches from aging on the edges, normal for objects over 120 years old — see photos, they are part of the description.
