Description

Exceptional antique pepper mill made in repoussé silver, with very rich and deeply worked decoration. The globular body features a detailed relief with botanical motifs, acanthus leaves, griffins, and a typical Dutch traditional scene.

The curved crank retains its original knob and the internal mechanism works perfectly, a somewhat uncommon feature in pieces nearly a century old.

Provenance and dating

Visible contrasts on the top allow precise confirmation of its Dutch origin (Netherlands).

The last mark—the letter “R” inside an oval—corresponds to the official date mark of Dutch silver for the year 1927, which allows exact chronological identification.
