Description from the seller
A Moldovan Explosion of Color: Large Kilim Bessarabia in Rose – 280 x 220 cm
Sometimes you come across pieces that seem to have a life of their own, and this majestic Kilim is the perfect example. It is not just a rug, but a true statement of style, capable of anchoring the entire aesthetic of a room thanks to its incredible cardinal red and the rose buds that seem to bloom directly from the wool. Its visual impact is explosive: it’s the kind of piece that transforms an anonymous living room into a space with a story to tell.
Looking at it up close, you can immediately perceive the quality of the hand-spun wool and the craftsmanship of a weave that belongs to a bygone era, that of Moldavia in the 1950s and 60s. It has a wonderful patina; despite showing the signs of time with some wear in the corner where the weave has become thinner, revealing the warp, the colors have remained incredibly bright and vibrant. It is an honest object, that does not hide its past but wears it with pride. We have taken care of it with attention, subjecting it to a cleaning process not professional but meticulous: it has been thoroughly brushed by hand and aired at length outdoors. I can guarantee it presents no unpleasant odor, only the clean scent of authentic wool. It is ready to be laid out in a modern loft or a country house, carrying with it that warmth and that “presence” that only well-loved pieces can offer.
