Ottoman Egypt silver coin featuring on the obverse the caligraphic tughra of Sultan Abdul Hamid II, in an elegant Islamic style with a fluid stroke, occupying the center of the field with well-defined ornamental elements. The reverse shows the face value within a symmetrical vegetal crown, with the Arabic inscriptions and the Islamic date accompanied by the year of reign, topped by crescent and star. The reliefs are preserved sharp and the design maintains good overall presence, with residual luster visible in the fields. The piece has been cleaned in the past, a circumstance noted by the certifier, though it retains an attractive appearance and complete details typical of a specimen that has not circulated. Historically it belongs to the late period of Ottoman rule over Egypt, when monetary issues retained the imperial iconography of the sultan.
