Sony - TC-WR870 Audio-cassette deck

This double cassette player was fully serviced and checked last week by a skilled technician. This is a high-end Sony model. It is shipped very well packaged and insured. Insurance at my expense.
The heads are in excellent condition. Deck A heads are still 80% OK, Deck B heads 100% OK.

Double high-speed reverse cassette deck with Dolby NR B-C type independently mounted on the A/B deck.

Both A- and B-decks are equipped with a newly developed quiet and fast reversing mechanism that ensures silent and smooth tape travel.

It is equipped with a sound autofocus function that automates the setting of the recording level. This function differs from simply setting the level with a meter; it automatically sets the recording level by detecting the capabilities of the tape, the presence of Dolby NR, and the level of the source, and the computer analyzes the optimal value.

It is equipped with a cassette stabilizer. When the tape is engaged, the stabilizer mounted in the cassette door firmly secures the cassette half and suppresses tape vibration.

Based on Sony's original amorphous head with an amorphous magnetic alloy, we adopted a PC-OCC wound amorphous head where the windings have been replaced by PC-OCC windings.

Equipped with Dolby HX Pro, the effective bias amount during recording is controlled to the optimal value in units of 1/1000 second to prevent overbias in the high band and to improve linearity in the high band.

By using a superbias and significantly shifting the bias frequency upward, the frequency difference with the musical signal is broadened to improve resolution and high-frequency performance.

The B-deck is equipped with bias finetuning that allows adjustment of the optimal bias values, which vary slightly depending on the type of tape.

As a noise reduction system, it is equipped with Dolby NR B-type and C-type.

It uses a linear electronic counter with an FL tube that includes a subtractive function for minutes and seconds display.

It is equipped with a peak nirva meter with real-time peak display and peak hold function.

Equipped with a display mode switch to toggle between all lamps on and off via the remote control.

Equipped with an auto-fader function that allows fading in and out from the position where the auto-fade button is pressed. It is also possible to fade in by recording messages in combination with the timer.

Equipped with a fast reverse mechanism, it can operate quickly with almost no noise when rewinding the tape.

It uses a dual recording reverse mechanism that enables simultaneous recording of two tapes and continuous recording for 180 minutes.

Equipped with an AMS (Automatic Music Sensor) function that quickly detects the start of the previous or next piece of music.

It is equipped with a blank skip function, and when there is a silent passage of more than 10 seconds, it fast-forwards to the start of the next track and restarts playback.

Equipped with an automatic pause function.

With this, during normal-speed synchronization, the A-deck is put into a paused state each time a track is played, and the B-deck waits in a recording pause. This enables synchronization when selecting a song.

Equipped with an automatic tape selector that automatically detects type I (normal), II (high position) or IV (metal).

Equipped with an autoplay function that automatically starts playing after rewinding, and a memory play function that starts playing from the position reset to counter 0.

By combining the separately sold timer, you can record your absence and have the alarm play.

Equipped with an automatic Rec Mute function that automatically mutes during recording for about 4 seconds by pressing a button and temporarily stops.

It is equipped with a power-load function. When you stop a tape in the cassette lid and press the control button, such as play or rewind, without closing the door, the tape is automatically loaded and the control mode is engaged. This sequence of operations also works with the remote control.

It is equipped with a synchronization-bypass level control to maintain sound quality during tape editing. The signal level during dubbing can be adjusted to the optimal value for the recording side tape.
