Large centerpiece bowl in artistic glass with aventurine – signed De Wan – Italy, 1970s – Murano

Elegant centerpiece bowl in blown artistic glass, featuring a large water-green colored glass bowl with diffuse inclusions of golden aventurine, supported by a dramatic stem made up of overlapping spherical elements, also enriched with gold flecks in the glass.

The contrast between the green-speckled bowl and the golden stem gives the object a strong decorative presence, typical of Italian design production from the 1960s–70s. The circular base in clear glass bears the engraved signature “De Wan”.

The aventurina technique – obtained by incorporating metallic particles into molten glass – is a traditional Venetian glassmaking craft, particularly widespread in Murano artistic productions, to which this object can be plausibly attributed by technique and style.

Cenni storici

De Wan is a historic Italian maison founded in Milan in 1955 and best known for high-end jewelry. Between the 1960s and 1980s the company expanded its range with luxury and gift items, including art glass, crystal, and decorative objects for the home, often realized by Italian glass masters – many from Murano – and sold in boutiques under the De Wan brand.

This type of decorative bowls was offered as a table piece or interior décor element, reflecting the taste for Italian art glass spread in homes and design boutiques of the era.
