Description from the seller
“The Rattle” (“Il sonaglio”), published in 2009 by Sellerio Editore, is a work of notable interest by Andrea Camilleri, one of the most beloved and internationally renowned Italian authors. Camilleri is widely known as the creator of the famous inspector Salvo Montalbano, the protagonist of one of the most celebrated crime fiction series in modern Italian literature. The copy offered in this lot features an element of significant collector’s value: the original autograph of Andrea Camilleri, personally signed by the author inside the book. The presence of the signature makes this volume particularly appealing to collectors, enthusiasts and scholars of contemporary Italian literature.
The book comes from my private collection and belongs to a group of volumes personally signed by Andrea Camilleri that I have gathered over the years. This specific copy was purchased from a collector as part of a lot of signed books. In order to document and reinforce the collecting context from which the volume originates, photographs of the collection will also be included, offering insight into the bibliophile environment in which the book has been preserved.
“Il sonaglio” is a brilliant theatrical adaptation inspired by a work of Luigi Pirandello, demonstrating once again Camilleri’s remarkable ability to reinterpret literary tradition with intelligence, irony and narrative sensitivity. Although it is not part of the famous Inspector Montalbano series, the work fully retains Camilleri’s unmistakable style and his strong connection with Sicilian culture and storytelling.
The copy is in excellent condition. It has been carefully preserved within the collection and remains very attractive both for reading and for display in a refined private library. The author’s autograph naturally represents the most significant aspect of the book, greatly increasing its appeal for collectors of signed books and modern Italian literature.
Shipping will be handled with great care and professionalism. The book will be carefully packaged to ensure optimal protection during transport and will be shipped with tracking to guarantee secure delivery.
