Description from the seller
Prestigious Bombé Commode in Louis XV Style with Inlays of Precious Woods and Marble
This exceptional commode represents a pinnacle of Rococo-inspired cabinetry, a perfect example of the Louis XV style reinterpreted with masterful craftsmanship. The piece stands out for its markedly bulging and sinuous lines, both on the front and on the sides, a feature that lends dynamism and grace to the structure.
The surface is entirely adorned with a meticulous inlay in floral and vegetal motifs, realized with contrasting wood tones that create a refined painterly effect against a root-wood burr background. Every detail of the inlay has been designed to follow the curvature of the furniture, attesting to extremely high technical prowess. The top is crowned by a thick slab of precious marble, shaped and molded along the edges, which provides color stability and additional prestige to the whole.
The decorative apparatus is enriched by sumptuous applications in gilt bronze and chiseled ornament. Elegant acanthus-leaf borders and volutes adorn the shoulders, the pull handles of the drawers, and the central apron. The legs, sinuous and elongated, terminate with refined bronze sabot feet that protect the wood and complete the piece's luxurious aesthetic. This commode is not only a functional container but a true furniture jewel, ideal for imparting a touch of nobility to an entrance hall, a corridor, or a reception room.
