This work is an exponent of contemporary figuration with expressionist hints, resolved with an oil technique that stands out for the clarity of its light planes. Unlike other pieces in the series, the artist uses here a skin-tone base that is more naturalistic and luminous, on which bold strokes of cobalt blue, vibrant orange, and touches of magenta are applied. The pigment application suggests the use of a flat brush and a spatula, creating a texture that feels fresh and spontaneous. The painter seeks to convey serene vulnerability; the subject’s gaze, in a translucent blue, acts as the gravitational center of the composition, inviting the viewer to a quiet, silent introspection. It is an exploration of how identity is built from fragments of experiences, represented by those patches of color that seem to rest on the face like flashes of memory.
