Every recording played by 514 is an experience; we are dealing here with great musicality, liveliness of colors, and dynamism. The entire acoustic spectrum is superbly balanced; the tonal balance of 514 is almost perfect, note is not drawn to any particular component of the sound. NAD 514 allows you to focus effortlessly on any instrument. 514 is very musical, and it’s well known that very neutral devices are not subjectively that way. The NAD player does not reveal warmth or coldness in sound, but compared to other devices there is a natural warmth in the sound, the timbre is very close to natural. Vocals are very expressive and clean. Conveying emotions is at a high level; in shaping the acoustics and the atmosphere of the recording, NAD has achieved a reference level. NAD 514 provides a huge sense of holography, a homogeneity of the message. The perceptibility of instrumentality is very high here. The analytical quality of 514 is high, yet the presented details do not sharpen the message or attract attention. A large amount of detail does not conflict with the gentleness and delicacy of the sound. The soundstage does not impress with its size. There is restraint here; the foreground is slightly recessed, the instrumentation is distributed evenly across the entire plane. Depth is very suggestive; there is almost no vacuum in it, the instruments are surrounded by a tangible aura. The high frequencies largely contribute to the stereo qualities of the 514. They are spatial. They emanate from various points in space, are detached from the speakers. The high frequencies are very coherent with the rest of the spectrum. They form a solid accompaniment and do not distract attention at the same time. 514 handles micro- and mega-dynamics well, the sense of liveliness of the sound is very good. The bass is well proportioned with the midrange and treble. It is very musical—rhythmic, pulsating. 514 is not a sound that runs thin; the sound rests on a solid bass foundation. NAD 514 has almost no flaws that degrade the sound. NAD 514 is a player with a full-bodied sound, rich in color. The soundstage is very transparent, the dynamics give a sense of tremendous vitality.
