Description from the seller
Splendid headboard for a queen/king-size bed in high cabinetmaking, distinguished by a refined, swooped and shaped "gendarme hat" line. The structure is made of solid wood, finely hand-carved, with decorations in foliate motifs and Rococo scrolls that culminate in a scenographic central shell crest (palmette).
The finish is in gold leaf (or high-quality gilding), which presents a beautiful patina of age, giving the piece warmth and authenticity. The central part is padded and upholstered with a luxurious silk or damask fabric, or gros de Tours, in sage green with a changing texture, perfect for fitting into both classic settings and contemporary bedrooms as a contrasting piece (shabby chic or eclectic decor).
Technical Details:
Style: Louis XV / Barocco (Baroque-lite).
Era: Circa 1950 (mid-20th century).
Materials: Carved wood, gilding, damask fabric / silk.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition. The structure is solid. The fabric is well stretched and clean; the gilding shows light signs of natural wear that attest to its age (please study the detailed photos carefully).
