Conrad Gessner was a Renaissance polymath, a physician, philosopher, encyclopaedist, bibliographer, philologist, natural historian and illustrator.

The woodcuts for the work were undertaken by Hans Asper, Johann Thomas, and Lukas Schrön.

Woodcuts to recto (Crossbill) and verso (Owl). Fine 16th century folio. Fine later hand colour.

Condition: Minor colour show-through to woodcut of owl on verso. Light age toning. Please view the images carefully.
