Description from the seller
Vase Bond n10, unique piece
"The Bond vase was born from the alliance of my work in ceramics and the practice of bondage. The anthropomorphic shapes of the deformations clash and come together. The whole thing is contained by a cordage made in Shibari.
Shibari means ‘attached, bound’; this word is used in Japan to describe the art of tying parcels, in the West it designates the art of bondage (‘kinbaku’ in Japanese).
Even if the practice evokes a certain violence, by restricting movement, it is in reality an art that is carried out with a deep respect for the person or object that is tied. The cordage must be applied with the right tension; the knots distribute, amplify or release the forces it exerts around the piece according to their orientation and tightening, and this without ever hurting, damaging or breaking the thing one ties.
Everything is a matter of balance."
About Lucas Huillet:
Formed at the Camondo School in design and interior architecture. This academic path opened the doors to collaborations with prestigious houses and institutions.
In 2018, he created his studio as a space of exploration where ceramics, interior architecture and object design intersect, centered on expertise in working with natural materials, allowing the conception of unique pieces that are at once everyday objects and works in their own right.
Today, the studio continues to combine traditional craft and contemporary innovation, with the aim of creating objects that carry meaning and authenticity.
Lucas Huillet’s creations have been exhibited notably at Paris Design Week, Collectible in Brussels, or Dubai’s Al Shindagha Museum.
