Description from the seller
Afternoon of Everyday Encounters
Description of the work
Original work in a contemporary naive style that represents a daily scene in an urban setting, where architecture and social life intertwine in an atmosphere of calm and serenity. The composition captures a moment in the afternoon when the light softly envelops every corner, giving way to that instant when the day moves unhurriedly forward and life happens naturally.
The scene builds a communal narrative through multiple gestures and situations that coexist in the same space: a young woman walks decisively toward her destiny, at once distant and connected to everything happening around her; several people share a coffee while catching up, extending conversations that are part of their daily life; from the windows, some figures observe in silence, as if trying to hold onto those fleeting moments that, although simple, already belong to a day that will not return.
In the street, mothers converse while their children play, unaware of the passing of time; the figure of a boy on a bicycle stands out, symbolizing movement and the freedom of childhood, as well as the presence of a woman pushing her baby’s pram, still wrapped in the emotion of new motherhood. In the center of the composition, a couple shares a moment of intimacy amid the tranquil bustle, representing the bond and connection in the midst of shared life.
The whole conveys a sense of balance, closeness and humanity, where each character is part of a collective story that celebrates the everyday. The work invites the viewer to pause and recognize the beauty of those small moments that, without apparent importance, build the memory of life.
True to its naive language, the artist eschews strict realism to give way to a luminous representation, with vivid colors and absence of pronounced shadows, generating a sense of suspended time. The scene does not belong to a specific moment, but to all those similar moments that recur and, nevertheless, are never identical.
The work is part of contemporary figurative art, with a personal naive style that values everyday life, human relationships and the poetry that inhabits the simple.
