Description from the seller

A particularly decorative and refined pair of Chinese cloisonné vases in the classic double-gourd shape (Hulu). The vases are richly decorated with fine enameling in vivid colors on a turquoise-blue background.

The panels depict elegant blooming branches with birds, a traditional Chinese motif that symbolizes harmony, prosperity, and luck.

The vases feature gorgeous gilded bronze dragon-shaped handles and a decorative rim. They stand on matching carved wooden pedestals, giving the whole a stately appearance.

Cloisonné is an ancient technique in which thin metal wires are used to create compartments that are then filled with colored enamel and polished. This yields the distinctive rich and glossy surface.

These vases are believed to date from the first half of the 20th century and form an impressive decorative pair for a classical or Eclectic interior.

Perfect as a statement piece on a console, fireplace mantle, or sideboard.
