Early 20th century monocular compound microscope manufactured by Optische Werkstätte Paul Waechter in Potsdam, Germany. The instrument bears the original maker’s plate and comes in its original fitted wooden transport case. The interior label indicates Mikroskop Nr. Va and shows the magnification specifications. The microscope features a cast iron horseshoe base, rack and pinion focusing mechanism, mirror illumination and rotating objectives. Instruments of this type were typically used in schools and laboratories during the early 20th century. The set includes the original fitted wooden case with interior label, as well as the glass stage plate and specimen holder as shown in the photographs. A specimen slide is included for demonstration purposes. The microscope remains in good vintage condition with normal signs of age and use.
