Four porcelain Christmas plates by KPM Berlin (Germany) from 1976–1992, each with a diameter of 19.5 cm, depth 19.5 cm and height 3 cm, featuring yearly motifs such as the Bethlehem Star (1976), Bell (1988), the Adoration of the Shepherds window motif (1990) and Christmas Eve in Soest (1992), with blue Zepter marks and gold/blue Weihnachten inscriptions including the year, described as a limited edition and in near‑mint condition.
Description from the seller
The Royal Porcelain Manufactory Berlin (KPM) is one of the oldest and most renowned manufactories in Europe, which since its founding by Frederick the Great in 1763 has produced high-quality porcelain by hand.
The KPM Berlin Christmas plates from the period 1976 to 1992 are classic collector’s pieces made of high-quality porcelain, distinguished by their characteristic color scheme in cobalt blue and gold.
The standard diameter is about 19.5 cm.
Motifs/Design:
1976: The Star of Bethlehem
This year often marks the start of many collections in this series. The motif shows the radiant star above the cityscape, guiding the way.
1988: Ringing Bells
The plate from 1988 features a festive bell motif. Interestingly, this design is partly based on historical templates from the manufactory (original designs by Theo Schmuz-Baudiss, a prominent KPM artist of the Jugendstil).
1990: The Adoration of the Shepherds (Window Motif)
The motif shows a biblical scene, often referred to as a “window motif,” depicting the shepherds’ adoration.
1992: Christmas Eve in Soest
This motif shows the St. Patrokli Church in Soest under a starry sky
On the back are the most important authenticity marks of the Royal Porcelain Manufactory Berlin:
Scepter mark: The famous blue scepter mark of KPM.
Inscription: In gold or blue lettering there is usually “Weihnachten” with the corresponding year as well as the note “Begrenzte Auflage.”
The “limited edition” means that the shapes were not used for this series after the respective production year, which makes them completed collectible objects.
In pristine condition.
