Stool - Wood - Tribal seat
A fine mid-century carved wooden low stool from the Ndyuka people of Suriname, measuring circa 41,5cm in length and weighing 1270g, the crescent shaped seat carved with geometrical motifs typical of the Marron / Maroon group of peoples, tribes formed by escaped plantation slaves who formed their own communities in the inlands of Suriname with strong traditional and cultural ties to their African roots. The stool bears some resemblance to similar models found in the West African Ashanti culture.
Condition: Very good, no damages or repairs. Minor wear commensurate with age and use.
