Gold Mauritanian Nuggets- 1.75 g

These nuggets come from the desert region of Tiris Zemmour in northern Mauritania, more than a hundred kilometers from an area named Guelb Ndour.
Gold mining in this country was previously reserved for a large industrial company.
But since 2016 individual mining has been allowed using metal detectors.

I offer them as I found them; I have only cleaned them with soapy water.

The gold from this region is quite pure; in general its purity ranges from about 950 to 980 fineness, which corresponds to 22.80 to 23.50 karats.

Although gold mining has become one of Mauritania’s main resources, nuggets are fairly rare because nearly all the gold is melted into bars that are then sent to Dubai.

I photographed these nuggets as honestly and as accurately as possible using daylight.
