Porsche 911 SC
In the 1978 model year the 911 range was reduced to two models. The 911 SC (Super Carrera) took the place of the 911 and Carrera models. From the 1984 model year the SC version was replaced again by the 911 Carrera.
Door frames/handles
Until the 1978 model year, on the 911 SC the glass frames and door handles were chrome, as in the preceding 911 models; starting with the 1979 model year they were anodized black, like the Carrera models.
Wheels
The 911 SC was equipped as standard with 15" aluminum alloy ATS wheels.
Exterior mirrors
The 911 SC exterior mirrors featured electric adjustment and were painted in the body color.
Engines
The 911 SC was powered by a 3.0-litre boxer engine, whose power increased slightly over the years.
Model year 1978-79 – 3.0 litres, 180 HP
Model year 1980 – 3.0 litres, 188 HP
Model year 1981-83 – 3.0 litres, 204 HP
Bodywork
The 911 SC had a wider shell than the 911 Carrera. Cars from the 1981 model year are recognizable by the side indicators behind the front fenders. From the 1983 model year, for the first time, the 911 SC was available as a Cabriolet, in addition to the Coupé and the Targa-bodied cabriolet—an entirely open-top 911 with a fabric roof.
Headlight frames
The headlight frames of the 911 SC were initially chrome-plated, but from the 1979 model year they were painted in the body color.
