Description from the seller
Antique vanity or jewelry box made in the Neoclassical Louis XVI revival style. The square box has a wooden core and is externally clad with dark brown pressed faux tortoise. The edges are finished with a finely profiled metal band with bead border decoration. On the lid there is a central round medallion with a classical relief decoration of an urn with flowers, flanked by festoons (hanging chains) and acanthus leaves.
Behind the metal relief is a green decorative stone or mineral composite applied that serves as a contrasting background for the ornament.
The sides of the box feature vertical profiling, also finished with metal edge decoration. The interior is lined with light blue velvet and intended for storing small jewelry or treasures. The combination of material usage, ornamentation and construction is typical for luxurious decorative objects from the Belle Époque.
