Description from the seller

Fascinating pair of terracotta jars, entirely handmade and decorated at the historic Volpi workshop in Deruta. The objects present a classic and elegant line, with a bulbous body that narrows to a slender neck and ends with a distinctive petal-shaped spout and a curled handle.

Decoration is done on a fine Pompeian red background, enriched with multicolored floral motifs.

Material: Terracotta.

Technique: Hand-painted.

Period: Mid-20th century (circa 1950-1960).

Signature: Hand-painted signature "Volpi Deruta" under the base of both pieces, guaranteeing authenticity.

Dimensions: Height approximately 15 cm.

Historical Notes: Volpi and the Deruta Tradition
Deruta, a town in Umbria renowned worldwide, represents the beating heart of Italian artistic ceramics since the Renaissance. Its fame is linked to the quality of local clay deposits and the mastery of its artisans in passing down centuries-old techniques.

The Volpi Manifattura, active in Deruta in the 20th century, stood out for a production of the highest quality. The collaboration between the Volpi family and the Deruta district led to the creation of objects that fuse the rigor of Umbrian ceramic tradition with a refined and collectible decorative taste. The "Volpi" signature is today synonymous with artisanal excellence, sought after by vintage ceramic enthusiasts for the brilliance of the glazes and the precision of the painted lines.

Conditions
The jars are presented in excellent vintage condition. There are slight signs of age that attest to their originality and artisanal character (please view the photos carefully, which are an integral part of the description).
