Description from the seller
Musical sculptural ensemble of rabbits in silver – Alberty S.A., Zaragoza – designed by Canella
Original and extraordinary sculptural ensemble representing an orchestra of rabbit musicians, made in sterling silver 925 by the renowned Spanish firm Alberty S.A., with design attributed to the artist Canella, produced in Zaragoza (Spain).
The composition presents a full musical scene with numerous anthropomorphic rabbits performing different instruments (grand piano, harp, trumpet, violin, xylophone, among others), arranged on an elegant stepped wooden base. The ensemble stands out for its narrative and decorative character, evoking a theatrical or concert scene.
The figures have been created through artistic silver casting, subsequently chiselled and hand-detailed. The decoration features selective patination and controlled oxidation, a technique used to highlight volumes, textures and sculptural details, creating a contrast between light and dark areas that adds depth and character to the figures.
The piece is preserved in excellent condition, collectible in nature, with very light signs of aging. Original manufacturer labels are also preserved, reinforcing its authenticity and provenance.
This type of Alberty compositions is highly appreciated by collectors of contemporary Spanish metalwork, silver sculptures and figurative decorative pieces, due to its originality, quality of execution and relatively limited production.
