Description from the seller

An incredible antique bench (or small entryway bench) made entirely of solid oak, featuring a robust and richly decorated design, typical of European artisanal tradition of the 19th or early 20th century, inspired by Renaissance/Monastic style.

The most valuable element is the wide curved backrest, which at the center bears a prominent relief-carved medallion. The ornament depicts a stylized heraldic shield topped by a crown, surrounded by volutes and foliage motifs, imparting to the piece an aura of nobility and solemnity.
Main Features

Functionality: The seat includes a practical under-seat storage compartment. The seat top is hinged and can be lifted to store objects (perfect for entryways, hallways, or at the foot of a bed).

Design: The sides and legs feature a lyre-shaped contour, ensuring great stability and a harmonious aesthetic.

Material: High-quality oak with a beautiful visible grain and a warm patina acquired over time.

Construction Details: Note the artisanal metal hinge work and the solidity of the mortise-and-tenon joints.

Conditions of the Item

The bench is presented in good conservative condition. There are the normal signs of time and use (small superficial scratches and wear consistent with age), which do not compromise its solidity but enhance its historical charm. The structure is stable and ready to be placed in a modern or period setting. A first conservative restoration has been carried out by applying insect repellent and a double application of wood oil.
(Note for the seller: looking at the back photo, one can see protective felt pads applied to avoid scratching the walls, a sign of careful preservation).
