Made after Rene Lalique,
See the style characteristics:
Contrast of Glass: The "Lalique look" is defined by the juxtaposition of frosted (satin-finish) sculptural elements against polished clear glass. This polar bear ashtray uses that exact technique.
Naturalistic Themes: Both Lalique and Zentner drew heavy inspiration from the natural world, specifically animals and wildlife rendered in stylized, elegant forms.
Art Deco Geometry: The piece features the bold lines and geometric shapes typical of the French Art Deco movement that Lalique championed.
"Ice" Aesthetic: Lalique was known for making glass that "mimics water in all its forms," often looking like an ice sculpture. The faceted "iceberg" base of your piece is a perfect example of this style.
In summary: It is a Czech Art Deco piece, but because it captures the elegance and techniques of the era so well, many collectors and dealers categorize it as "Lalique style" to describe its high-quality look.
